Pacific or Sea of Cortez: Where to Buy Your Beach Land

Mexico has two seas in its northwest, and they are nothing alike. Choosing between them is choosing a lifestyle.

The Pacific: Rosarito

  • Climate: mild year-round, with morning marine layer.
  • Water: cold with surf—surfing, walks and sunsets.
  • Access: unbeatable from Southern California, under an hour from San Diego.
  • Price: higher, especially oceanfront.

The Sea of Cortez: Sonora

  • Climate: desert—sunny winters and very hot summers.
  • Water: warm and calm—swimming, paddling and fishing.
  • Access: natural from Arizona and from Hermosillo.
  • Price: lower, with larger lots.

How to decide

Ask yourself where you will be coming from and which months you will use it. If you live in California and want weekend getaways, Rosarito. If you live in Arizona or want warm winters and calm water, Sonora.

Grupo Terravista’s options

On the Pacific, four developments on the Rosarito corridor, with Laguna Bay on the oceanfront. On the Sea of Cortez, Saguaro Bay: 400 m² lots with a private beach 55 minutes from Hermosillo.
