“Campestre” describes land in a rural or semi-rural setting, outside the urban footprint. It is the most affordable way to own land with a view on the coast—provided you know what you are buying.
Country vs. urban
- Utilities. An urban subdivision delivers water, power and sewer to the lot line. On a country lot these may be handled with your own solutions: cistern, septic tank, solar panels.
- Roads. Dirt roads instead of pavement.
- Density. Fewer neighbors and more distance between homes.
- Price. Noticeably lower per square foot.
Who it suits
- People who want a cabin or weekend home.
- People who value open space over urban convenience.
- Long-term thinkers who want the lowest entry cost.
Key questions
- Which utilities exist today and which are the buyer’s responsibility?
- Is the road passable in the rainy season?
- What can be built, and under which guidelines?
- Is there security or management?
